Lalmani Memorial Sansthan (LMS):
LMS is a registered non-governmental organization based in Madhubani, Bihar. Since 2003, we have been working to promote human rights, gender justice, education, health, livelihoods, sanitation, and environmental protection — with a special focus on empowering marginalized communities in Bihar and Jharkhand.
Lalmani Memorial Sansthan had been successfully running the Mahila Help Line in Madhubani district since 29th March 2009, with the support of the Women Development Corporation (WDC), Bihar, and a dedicated team of trained staff members.
The Help Line provided crucial assistance to women facing various forms of exploitation and violence, including:
-
Domestic violence
-
Dowry-related harassment
-
Physical abuse and assault
-
Gender-based discrimination
Through the Help Line, the Sansthan offered counseling, legal aid, emergency intervention, and social support, helping women to seek justice and regain their dignity and rights. It served as a safe and trusted platform where women could raise their voices against exploitation and seek immediate assistance.
Over time, due to the program’s growing importance and impact, the project was later taken over by the Government of Bihar to be run under state-level institutional mechanisms, ensuring its sustainability and wider reach across the region.
